"Shrinks & Geeks" plays and sings time-honoured and mostly lesser-known Irish tunes, as well as original compositions inspired by the Celtic tradition. Our repertoire ranges from lament to farce, from slow air to fast dance, and from solo to four-part “chamber folk.” We play a wide variety of instruments, especially strings and winds.

Our band’s name alludes to our day jobs: two of us work as mental-health professionals, two as computer specialists. Each of us has learnt that life’s sorrows and joys are best savoured when they’re expressed through self-made music washed down with a pint of stout.

“Shrinks & Geeks” is Herbert Klein (vocals, bouzouki, guitar, bagpipes, etc.), Ulrich Schmidt (fiddle, harp, composer of countermelodies), Veronika Morhart (harp, mandolin, bodhran, whistles, etc.).
